Pets benefit from Wellness Care Plans at every age and life stage. At Town and Country Animal Hospital, we’ve updated our plans to offer more value, flexibility, and peace of mind—including emergency care coverage through our trusted sister hospital.

We’re excited to share that EMERGENCY VISITS ARE NOW INCLUDED in all Wellness Plans—available at Columbia Pike Animal Hospital and Emergency Center, our 24-hour emergency facility located just a short drive away in Annandale. Whether it’s a sudden illness, injury, or after-hours concern, your pet now has access to high-quality emergency care whenever they need it most—and it’s already built into your plan.  Most local emergency centers charge $150 or more in ER fees on top of the exam cost. With a Wellness Plan, you pay neither — it’s all included.

Frequently Asked Questions About Wellness Plans

What is included in a pet wellness plan?
Wellness plans typically cover the preventive care your pet needs on a regular basis, such as annual or semi-annual exams, core vaccinations, fecal testing, and heartworm or flea and tick prevention. Plans vary, so your veterinarian will walk you through exactly what is included and help you choose the option that fits your pet's age, lifestyle, and health needs.

Is a wellness plan the same as pet insurance?
No. A wellness plan covers routine and preventive care that you know your pet will need, such as vaccines and checkups. Pet insurance is designed to help with unexpected illness or injury costs. The two complement each other well. A wellness plan helps you budget for routine care, while insurance provides a safety net for emergencies or unexpected diagnoses.

How do wellness plans save money?
Wellness plans bundle your pet's routine care into a predictable monthly or annual payment, often at a lower total cost than paying for each service individually. Beyond the financial savings, they also encourage regular preventive visits, which means health issues are more likely to be caught early when they are easier and less expensive to treat.
